Byers Peak Ranch, a Grand County, Colorado ranch for sale possesses some significant history. Former President Dwight D. Eisenhower was a friend of the current owner’s grandfather, and frequented the ranch to fish his favorite fishing hole, St. Louis Creek. The Byers Creek Ranch, the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver, and Lowry Air Force Base, were all known as the “Western White Houses” or “Summer White Houses” during his presidency.

Eisenhower enjoyed cooking for guests at the Byers Creek Ranch, fishing St. Louis Creek and having “brookies” (brook trout) for breakfast, painting, and playing golf. On September 24, 1955 while at this Colorado ranch for sale, Eisenhower suffered a coronary thrombosis (heart attack) and was hospitalized at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver until November 11, 1955. His hospital suite has now been restored and is open for limited tours.
