You might find this hard to believe but Colorado is not just know for its beautiful Rocky Mountains. The state's vintners have built the wine industry that is getting national attention, winning metals and selling grapes to other wineries. Although there are wineries peppered all over the state of Colorado the industry has made the western slope, Grand Junction and Palisade, a tourist destination. Coloradoans and travelers from all over come to the area to sample the products from the region's wineries. Colorado's grape regions contain some of the highest elevations in the world with most of the state's wineries ranging from 4,000 to 7,000 feet in elevation. Approximately 60 commercial wineries operate in Colorado.
