Rancho Cañada is located in Mora County, New Mexico, in the heart of the Land of Enchantments beautiful high country bounded by Taos, Angel Fire, and Las Vegas (NM). Much of Mora County, including all of Rancho Cañada, was part of the Mora Land Grant of 1835, 800,000 acres of land granted from Mexico to twenty-five local settler families. Rancho Cañada has been owned since the 1920s by members of a single, long-standing, northern New Mexico family. These lands form most of the upper reaches of the Cañada del Carro drainage, a perennial tributary of Coyote Creek and the Mora River. The parcels are accessed directly from a gravel county-maintained road that intersects with NM State Hwy 434, the paved road that connects Mora and Angel Fire.
Improvements
The property is unimproved, but for an existing water well used in the past for both domestic and stock. An interior network of roads to access the upper elevations is rough but mostly passable. Utilities are available approximately one mile away. Many beautiful, scenic homesites can be located in various spots across the property, some with expansive views, others in the valley bottomland. Mineral rights are intact on all parcels and will be conveyed, with a commercial grade coal deposit located on Parcel 2.
