The IX Ranch provides the outdoor enthusiast great opportunities for fishing, upland bird hunting, big-game hunting, horseback riding, hiking, and photography.
Hunting
- Upland bird hunting on the ranch includes pheasants, Merriams turkey, Hungarian partridge, sage grouse, and sharp-tailed grouse.
- The productive irrigated valley provides unlimited opportunity for upland game bird enhancement, including food/cover plots, bird farm facilities, and driven hunts.
- Big-game hunting includes opportunities for trophy class pronghorn antelope, mule deer, white-tailed deer, and occasionally elk.
Fishing
- The North Fork of Crazy Woman Creek (NFCWC) is a well-known cold water stream fishery for brown and rainbow trout.
- The availability of stored water in Muddy Guard #2 Reservoir, released into the North Fork on the ranch, provides critical in-stream flows during summer/fall months, allowing fish populations to thrive.
- In addition, one private reservoir on the ranch and Muddy Guard #2 Reservoir adjacent to the ranch, provide excellent fishing for brown, rainbow and cutthroat trout.
Horses
- See information for the horse/livestock facilities on the ranch under "Improvements" on the Lay of the Land tab.
- For the polo and equestrian enthusiast, the Big Horn Equestrian Center is only a 45 minute drive to the north.
