RFMC supports outstanding opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast, including big-game hunting, upland bird hunting for blue grouse and sage grouse, fishing for wild trout on productive mountain streams, horseback riding, hiking, snowmobiling, ATV riding, wildlife viewing, photography, etc.



Hunting
  • RFMC is located in an area that supports great big-game populations for elk, mule deer, and some pronghorn antelope.
  • The ranch currently qualifies for two landowner elk and two landowner deer licenses annually.
  • RFMC is located in elk area 34, which has produced several record book entries up to the 415” mark. There was a 390” archery elk harvested off of the property in 2007 as well.
  • Mule deer bucks are numerous and will average in the 150-160” mark, with the occasional 170”+.
  • The pine covered ridges are perfect habitat for blue grouse and the sagebrush habitat supports good populations of sage grouse.


Fishing
  • The Red Fork of the Powder River runs for approximately 1 mile through the property, providing fast fishing action for brook, rainbow, and brown trout up to 13+ inches. The stretch of the river through the property is comprised of great over-hanging banks, pools, runs and riffles, and is considered to be of quality habitat and fishability for all levels of fisherman.
  • Another great stream fishery that is accessible via the public lands bordering RFMC, is Bear Trap Creek. The stream is known to produce monster brown trout up to 18”+.
  • There are also opportunities to create small reservoirs or ponds on the ranch as well.
