Drill plan for Roan Plateau faces opposition

According to an article in the New York Times, the Roan Plateau, a place coveted by Colorado hunters and anglers, is facing natural gas exploration. The hunting/fishing paradise is believed to have “incredible energy density beneath it,” and the energy companies that bought up these federal lands on a leasing push last year are hoping to tap into it. Hunters, anglers and environmentalists are pushing back, and “want the public area preserved for wildlife and recreation.” These opponents are taking the federal government to court in attempt to cancel the leases, as they fear energy development will lead “to air and water pollution and disruption of wildlife.” Read more.
