Western Watersheds Project has filed a lawsuit against the Bureau of Land Management, claiming:
“The BLM violated federal environmental laws, as well as its own policies, in writing [land use] plans. In its lawsuit, the group accuses the agency of failing to properly consider the impacts livestock grazing, oil and gas drilling and other activities would have on the sage grouse and its diminishing habitat.”
The lawsuit encompasses 16 separate land use plans across Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming and northern California. The federal government is asking that the lawsuit be divided by state so each plan can be looked at individually.
