Mirr Ranch Group honored as top ranchland company

Mirr Ranch Group was recently named one of America’s top ranch real estate companies by the editors of the The Land Report. Honorees were chosen based on reputation, principles and sales. Thank you to the Land Report for the honor.

Here’s a transcript from Ken Mirr’s interview with the publication in November 2010:

Land Report: Who is your typical buyer?

Ken: Our buyers come from all over the US and some overseas. Most are high net worth individuals that are successful business owners, entrepreneurs, and hedge fund managers, and they all have a passion for the land. Typically they either want to work the land, or have a place to retreat and enjoy the outdoors.

Land Report: Why do your clients choose your firm? And what does your brokerage stand for?

Ken: Mirr Ranch Group offers marketing and buyer acquisition services for fine sporting properties and legacy ranches for sale throughout the American West. Our brokers are known for their expertise in public lands, conservation, hunting, fishing and other recreational pursuits in addition to their unsurpassed knowledge of ranch transactions. Our extensive experience with all things ranch, coupled with a passion for the West, is really what makes Mirr Ranch Group stand apart from the rest.

Land Report: What are your sales numbers for 2010, based on final listing prices?

Ken: To date, our sales are $27 million so far for 2010, with another $32 million projected to close before year’s end.

Land Report: Is there one impressive sale, listing, or statistic for 2010 – your “wow” of the year?

Ken: We’re very proud of closing the Robinson Canyon Ranch in Buffalo, Wyoming this year. The property has a conservation easement on it with The Nature Conservancy, and offers incredible privacy and some of the best hunting in the area. We sold the ranch to a conservation-sporting buyer willing to continue the high level of stewardship the seller has performed for years. This sale has lead to an assemblage of other properties creating a premier hunting area in the Big Horns. In addition, the sale of Robinson Canyon Ranch highlights our winning marketing strategy, as we are the most successful ranch brokerage company in the Big Horns.

Land Report: Do you have any general observations about the market you’d like to share?

Ken: While the land market has not returned to its peak of the mid-00s, it is looking more promising. Buyers are now feeling we have bottomed out and are willing to make offers, and sellers are willing to accept reasonable discounts. Deals are being made, and both buyers and sellers are walking away from the table happy.
