Over the past year, Colorado has seen a substantial increase in new conservation easements across the state. Haley revisits her chat in May 2022 with Ken and special guest, the Executive Director of Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust (CCALT), Erik Glenn, where we discussed these latest developments and walked through what ranchers and landowners need to know about placing a conservation easement on their property. In part 1 of a 2 part series, Ken and Erik walk us through the history of conservation in Colorado and why conservation easements are an effective tool for ranchers and landowners.

The Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust was founded in 1995 to conserve Colorado’s western heritage and working landscapes for the benefit of future generations. Since then, CCALT has partnered with nearly 400 families to conserve more than 705,000 acres of farm and ranch land in Colorado. CCALT continues to deliver conservation solutions for Colorado’s working lands.
