Also, the property is only 45 minutes from Pueblo and 20 minutes from Spanish Peaks Airfield in Walsenburg. Five miles south of the ranch is the quaint mountain town of La Veta, CO (pop. 863), with art galleries, restaurants, a museum, a theater, lodging, and shopping.

The ranch is located in Colorado big game unit 85 which is an over-the-counter unit for elk licenses and is considered to be an above-average trophy area for elk. There are also good numbers of pronghorn on the ranch with excellent trophy potential. There are somewhat lower numbers of mule deer, but those that do inhabit the ranch are generally thought to be above-average trophy quality. Archery licenses for pronghorn are available over the counter, while rifle licenses are issued by draw.

The ranch would have to first be registered with the Colorado Parks & Wildlife landowner preference program but the property would qualify. This would help draw both deer and pronghorn licenses in the future.
